In recent years, technological advances in computing have led to the capability for significant reductions in payment processing time. The technologies that support this expedited payment processing have yet to be implemented at entities that issue public benefits programs. Our research & development is focused on exploring the efficacy of bringing these new capabilities to those receiving public benefits and the hypothetical economic impact when implemented at scale.
The research and development effort is led by a public-private partnership focused on leveraging proven, regulated technologies to accelerate the delivery of public benefits to individuals experiencing financial hardship.
Our objectives of this research & development effort include:
-Reduce the benefits delivery time
-Mitigate risk of fraud
-Expedite time for adjustments made to existing benefits
The research and development team is comprised of cross-disciplinary expertise in the fields of information technology, public policy, public health, benefits administration(Federal), economics, and software engineering. The team is focused on testing how technologies may be implemented alongside necessary adjustments to public policy and benefits administration to enhance the benefits delivery process.
